If you would like to become more involved with the Zen Center, these are suggestions for establishing a practice. They do not need to be followed in any order and should be adapted to what best suits your own path. We encourage you to jump in and attend our regular daily sitting (on site and online) at any time.

Getting Started

Arrive at 8:50 am for meditation instruction and 10:30 am for meditation and a Dharma talk during Saturday Community (register via event calendar).

Start regularly attending Saturday Community.

Read up on Zen (books available at our Zen Dust store). We suggest:

Temple Stay
-
Spend the night for a gentler temple stay

Stay at the center Friday night and attend a full Saturday Community.

Attend a one-day sitting.

Establishing A Practice

Start meditating regularly at home or the center.

Volunteer with the Zen Center.

Start attending workfests and other events (see event calendar).

Join a study group.

Join a membership.

Schedule a dokusan (one-on-one meeting) with teachers Kwong-roshi and Nyoze Kwong.

Committing to A Path

Attend a multi-day sesshin meditation intensive (see event calendar).

Consider an extended guest stay or residency.

Participate in an ango practice period.

After three years of practice at the Zen Center, students can take the Bodhisattva vows and receive jukai.
