Katsuzen has been the Shuso (head student) during two 30-day intensive practice periods, giving talks, guiding participants daily, providing interviews, and overseeing the practice. In November 2008, Katsuzen received monk ordination in the Shukke Tokudo Ceremony at SMZC. He leads the Windsor Zen Sitting Group and also holds a 2nd degree black belt in Aikido. He has also worked for many years as a bilingual teacher and is now an elementary school Spanish teacher. He lives with his wife, Lupita, and their two sons and daughter in Windsor, CA.
