About This Event
Dharma talk will be given by Katsuzen (勝禅) King. Katsuzen began studying Zen in Oregon in 1976. He has been practicing at SMZC since 1979. Since 1982 he has served as the Editor-in-Chief for Mountain Wind, the Zen Center's newsletter, and for over 15 years he has been giving introductory meditation classes at the Zen Center. Katsuzen has been the Shuso (head student) during two 30-day intensive practice periods, giving talks, guiding participants daily, providing interviews, and overseeing the practice. In November 2008, Katsuzen received monk ordination in the Shukke Tokudo Ceremony at SMZC. He leads the Windsor Zen Sitting Group and also holds a 2nd degree black belt in Aikido. He has also worked for many years as a bilingual teacher and is now an elementary school Spanish teacher. He lives with his wife, Lupita, and their two sons and daughter in Windsor, CA.
Thank you for your ongoing support. To sustain SMZC, please donate $10 (suggested) for the Saturday Community program.
