About This Event
What is Soto Zen North America (SZNA)?
Soto Zen North America (SZNA) was established by the Association of Soto Zen Buddhists (ASZB)—an organization formed by senior Soto Zen teachers—to support, connect, and guide Soto Zen practice across the continent.
The Role and Importance of the Denominational Council
The Denominational Council provides ongoing religious leadership. It is tasked with nurturing the spiritual well-being, growth, and ethical standards of all Soto Zen North America members, while regularly reflecting on the overall health of our practice community. The Council considers and decides on broad, long-term goals for the North American denomination. This includes overseeing priest training, guidelines, the outreach of Zen teachings, and selecting spiritual leadership.
