Sewing each stitch we recite, “I take refuge in the Buddha, I take refuge in the Dharma, I take refuge in the Sangha.”
Taking refuge in the Buddha Family is “receiving the precepts.”
This weekly rakusu sewing workshop is an important preparation for the Jukai recipients for the Jukai Ceremony on November 14, 2026. A rakusu is “bib-like” garment worn around the neck, symbolizing the Buddha’s robe. If you are not able to finish your rakusu, you must finish it at home. You have five months prior to the Jukai Ceremony to finish the rakusu and be guided if you need help by Kashin in any sewing questions.
Any member who wants to donate, help or repair their rakusu are welcome.
