WINTER PRACTICE PERIOD

Winter Practice Period: January 29, 2022 to February 26, 2022

SMZC's Winter Practice Period begins. Opening ceremony will be January 29 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm PST (Please register through the Events Calendar to receive Zoom link).

Please help us sustain our programming.

PLEASE NOTE: To attend Saturday Community events during Winter Practice Period, please register through the event calendar. To access the daily zazen Zoom link, please use the "Practice Period Zazen ZOOM LINK" in the upper right-hand corner of this page.

Limited On-Site Practice

SMZC will be open to the public with limited programs and capacity for the fully vaccinated Sangha. On-site programs offered will include Friday Volunteering (outside participation only), and Practice Period participation for long-term residents and overnight guests (staying a minimum of 1 week to 1 month) with the following protocols:

- Advance check-in and proof of vaccination required

- Submit Proof of negative Covid PCR test taken1-3 days before        arrival (for overnight guests)

- Maintain social distance (6' minimum)

- Hand washing (outdoor stations provided)

- Wear a mask at all times (and while chanting)

- Overnight stay is limited to long-term guests and Ango/Sesshin      participants. (1 guest per room)

- Zendo capacity is limited to 14 people (Zendo will be fully            ventilated)

Please fill out a Covid Waiver Form and send it with a scanned or photographed copy of your vaccination card (front side only) to the Office (office@smzc.org).

Berkeley Shambhala hosts talk by Jakusho Kwong-roshi

"The Importance of Breath"

Sat, March 12, 10-11am (Online)

Kwong-roshi will be discussing the method and importance of the breath and how Zen Master Hakuin points to it’s healing powers in his writing of the Yasenkanna. You can adapt this therapeutic method when you sit in meditation.
