About This Event

Hosted by Berkeley Shambhala, Kwong-roshi will be discussing Eko Hensho. Dogen, the founder of Soto Zen, says that the backward step is the heart of zazen. In explaining how to meditate, he says, “Take the backward step and turn the light inward. Your body mind, of itself, will drop off, and original enlightenment will appear.” Contemplating the mind source is the essential art of zazen (meditation-sitting) by the eko hensho method of “turning the light around and looking back”.
